Black Gold Jackfruit – Soft, Sweet, and Vigorous

The Black Gold Jackfruit is a standout variety from Queensland, Australia, prized for its dense canopy and reliable production of sweet, aromatic fruit. Its deep orange, soft-textured flesh makes it a favorite for fresh eating.

Tree Characteristics:

  • Size & Growth: Vigorous and fast-growing, with a dense, highly manageable canopy. With regular pruning, the tree can be maintained at 6.5-8 feet.
  • Temperature Tolerance: Thrives in USDA Zones 9B-11. Prefers full sun and regular watering for best results.
  • Production Capability: A prolific producer, yielding 120-200 pounds of fruit annually.

Fruit Characteristics:

  • Fruit Size: Medium-sized fruits, averaging around 14-15 pounds.
  • Flesh Quality: Deep orange, soft, and sweet with a rich aroma. The flesh's melting texture contrasts with crispier varieties.
  • Latex Type: Moderate latex; the spines on the skin do not flatten upon maturity, making harvest timing less intuitive.
  • Harvest Time: Ripens mid-to-late summer. Careful observation is needed to judge ripeness accurately.

Care Tips:

The Black Gold Jackfruit thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. Regular pruning helps manage the tree's vigorous growth, making harvesting easier. Ensure consistent moisture for optimal fruit production and quality.

Local (In-State) Shipments: Orders ship Monday through Wednesday to ensure delivery before the weekend. Most locations within the state receive deliveries in 1 to 2 days.
