The Carrie Mango, a cultivar from Florida, is a delight for the taste buds with its exceptionally sweet and delectable flavor. This variety is so delicious that it can be described as sinfully sweet. The flavor is top-notch, making it a favorite among mango enthusiasts.
The Carrie Mango is a compact tree, making it an ideal choice for a dooryard tree. Its manageable size requires minimal care, making it suitable for home growers or those who prefer low-maintenance trees. Despite its smaller stature, the tree is a decent producer, offering a satisfactory amount of fruit each season. It may not be the most prolific, but it certainly holds its own.
One of the standout features of the Carrie Mango is its impressive resistance to fungus and disease. This hardy tree and its fruit have little to no issues with such problems, making it a feasible choice for those who prefer to limit their use of fungicides. It’s a variety that can be grown with minimal effort, yet offers a taste that is exotic and rare.
The only area where the Carrie Mango falls short is in its color and firmness. The fruit may lack the vibrant colors typically associated with mangoes and may not have the firmness desired for commercial sale or presentation. However, these minor shortcomings do not affect the taste, which remains unaffected and delicious. The fruit ripens from June to July, offering a summer treat that is eagerly anticipated. In conclusion, the Carrie Mango may not be perfect, but its excellent flavor and disease resistance make it a worthy addition to any garden.
