Introducing the Hood European Pear Tree, a remarkable variety that brings a touch of Europe to your backyard. This tree is a golden treasure, producing large shaped fruits that are a delight to the senses.
The Hood pear tree is a low chill variety, making it an excellent choice for warmer climates. It requires only 100-200 chill hours, which is the amount of cold a deciduous fruit tree needs to break winter dormancy.
The fruits of the Hood pear tree ripen in mid-July to early August, offering a sweet and slightly tangy flavor, reminiscent of the popular Bartlett pear. The fruit’s soft, buttery flesh and golden yellow skin make it a favorite for fresh eating, canning, or even making preserves.
This tree is not just about the fruit; it’s also a visual treat. In spring, it adorns itself with clusters of white or cream-colored flowers, adding beauty to your landscape and providing nectar for pollinators.
The Hood pear tree is hardy in USDA Hardiness Zones 7-9, and it thrives in full sun, requiring at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight per day. It’s adaptable to various soil types, but it truly thrives in well-drained, loamy soils.
In terms of size, a mature Hood pear tree typically reaches a height of 15-20 feet and a width of 12-15 feet. It’s a great option if you’re looking for a tree that offers both beauty and bounty.
So, if you’re looking for a tree that offers delicious fruit, stunning visuals, and is easy to care for, the Hood European Pear Tree is a fantastic choice. Add this gem to your garden and enjoy the fruits of your labor!

No Freeze Warranty: We do not guarantee plants shipped during freezing conditions. Shipping in cold weather is at the buyer’s discretion and risk.
