The “Julie” mango, also known as Saint Julian, is a variety that holds a special place in the hearts of mango lovers, especially in Jamaica. Its flavor is a delightful mix of sweet and tangy notes, with a hint of pineapple, earning it high marks in taste evaluations.
While the color of the fruit may not be its standout feature, earning a modest score, it does nothing to diminish the overall appeal of this variety.
In terms of disease resistance, the “Julie” mango faces some challenges, particularly in humid climates like Florida. However, with the application of fungicides, these challenges can be effectively managed.
The tree size is somewhat small, but this is actually a plus for those who prefer a more compact tree. It’s particularly popular among growers who appreciate its manageable size, earning it a high assessment in this category.
When it comes to production, the “Julie” mango offers a steady supply of fruits, earning it an average score. But each fruit is a treat, making it well worth the wait.
The “Julie” mango ripens from June to July, offering a refreshing treat for the summer. Despite its challenges, the “Julie” mango remains a beloved variety for its unique flavor and manageable size. With the right care and attention, including the use of fungicides, it can thrive and produce a bountiful harvest. Enjoy! ????
